Who's Jeans Are These Anyway!

I am on Day 17 of a 100 Day Challenge to intentionally move 30 minutes every day for 100 days.  Thus the name, 100 Day Challenge.

I have been diligent and hardworking and smart; varying my workouts and cutting back when my knee bothers me. I’ve also become brave enough to do some assisted pull ups and tricep dips even when other people are there!  Believe me, that takes a lot of courage on my part!

The hard part is, I am not losing weight.  My clothes fit differently but the scale has moved very, very little. Yes, I know you should go by how your clothes fit but sometimes it's hard not to be ruled by the scale!

It all brings me back to a time many years ago when I lost a lot of weight. I was hitting it on all cylinders and consistently losing weight along with my clothes fitting differently.

One weekend morning I was absolutely jubilant! I came through the house and said to my husband, “Wow! The scale is the same but my body is really changing! Look at how huge these jeans are on me!  I have the belt cinched all the way in.  They are practically falling off!” I twirled around and probably even danced a little.

My husband looked at me with a curious gaze and said, “Of course they are too big. Those are my jeans.”

The dancing stopped. I gave him a withering stare.  Was he really trying to take away my weight loss accomplishment with a joke like that?

He looked sort of taken aback but didn't recant his statement. It was completely unbelievable to me that any human being could be so unsupportive! With one last dagger shooting look, I stomped back to the bedroom. How hurtful! And then I took a good look and…… he was right. They were his jeans!!

Oh my. If it were truly possible to die from embarrassment, that might have been one of the many moments in my life that would qualify!

But I didn’t die from embarrassment and I changed into a pair of my own jeans, held my head high and continued on my weight loss journey!

I’m on that journey again. This time I’ll be more careful where I grab things from the closet!

And in case you are wondering, that is not a current photo of my husband and I at the beginning of this post.  I know you were wondering!

Keep on smiling!
